Equipment Needed to Burn Songs Onto a
CD
You need two things to burn your music to a CD:
-
An internal or external CD-RW drive that is
connected to the computer you use to play your music.
-
A blank CD disc that is compatible with the
write speed of your CD-RW drive, and that is able to record
audio files (CD-R or CD-RW). Please refer to the blank CD
packaging and read the documentation that came with your
CD-RW drive if you have questions.

How to Burn a CD
Follow the steps below to burn your music to a CD using:
-
Open Windows Media Player
-
Select
Burn Tab at top of Window
-
In the left pane, select the playlist in your
library that contains the songs you want to burn. After you
do, the number of songs and total time will be displayed at
the bottom of the pane.
-
To add or to remove songs from the playlist,
click Edit Playlist. Add additional songs from your
library or clear the check boxes for the song you want to
remove. Change the song order by clicking and dragging the
song into position.
-
Insert a blank CD-R in your
CD-RW drive.
-
To change CD settings, such as the CD write
speed or quality level, Click the small triangle at the
bottom of the Burn tab and select More Options
-
In the right pane, Click Start Burn.
-
iTunes®
-
Select the playlist containing the songs you want to
burn to the CD, and make sure all the songs you want to
include on the CD have a checkmark beside them.
-
Click Burn CD (at the bottom of the iTunes window) and
insert a blank CD-R in your CD-RW drive. If the playlist contains more songs
than will fit on the CD, iTunes burns only the number of
songs that fit on one disc, and then asks you to insert
another disc to continue burning the remaining songs.
Note:
While you can use CD-RW discs, we advise you use CD-R discs as
many optical CD players do not support CD-RW discs. If using a CD-RW disc that already has songs or
data on it, click Erase Disk to erase the CD.
It's best not to use your computer or run other programs on your
computer while burning a CD.
Most other media players will burn MP3 files to a CD as well.
Please follow the user instructions for your media player.
